CONGRATS to Helios House for having 100% in the color wars Spirit Day today!
This morning we got to do another STEM challenge. We built towers for apples out of dried spaghetti and mini marshmallows. First take away from this is to never use dried spaghetti and mini marshmallows as building supplies in a STEM challenge again. But seriously, the kids enjoyed the challenge and several groups were able to construct designs that kept their fall harvest aloft up to 10 inches above the table top!
After this we went upstairs again. This time we listened to the 8th graders talk to us in character. Each of them took on the persona of a lesser known influencer of history and conversed with our 6th graders about this. 6th graders were asked to evaluate the presentations, too. This was a pretty neat experience.
This afternoon we all took the math test at the same time and then seamlessly moved into PLT.
HOMEWORK:
Science - students should spend at least 10 minutes working on some part of their brain brochure. Possible ideas are writing a section (paragraph), looking for images to include, further research about the topics, etc. First check in in November 6th.
Math & Humanities did not assign homework today.
