Math
Students will be learning math using Illustrative Math, an open source curriculum with a great online presence. Students will be using a workbook and no textbook needed this year. There are lots of online resources for families and students for Illustrative!
Standards and Proficiency Scales
All 3 middle schools in Camas have aligned together to use the same Proficiency Scales for grading each standard. Proficiency Scales can be thought of as the "rubric" in which we evaluate a student's knowledge in that standard. It shows in detail what is needed to meet the standard. It's pretty neat! We follow Common Core Math Standards for 6th grade, with room for extension for students who are ready for deeper thinking and stretching the brain.
