New month, new projects! We launched our Design Thinking unit today. Based on a plan from a local business person (Deb Mrazek) students are learning the process good design. Our first order of business was to evaluate different types of can openers. Then we determined which can openers were best for the needs of specific users. Finally we became designers ourselves and created an item for our table mate that would allow him/her to better enjoy his/her favorite food. We learned that in order to come up with a good design we need to have a design that actually fulfills a purpose efficiently as well as meets the needs of the user. Tomorrow we learn about the actual challenge that will apply to our Odyssey experience!
We also started Computer Coding today. During the month of October, students are expected to use some of their PLT time to complete two themes from the CS-First coding curriculum. This is an at-school activity and cannot be done at home. All our students were pretty excited to get this going.
Quick reminders:
**Asia Quizzee-poo is tomorrow. Europe is scheduled for Friday. 15 minutes a night of studying would be a good habit to be in!
**There are still some math foldables not turned in! This is not a Google Classroom assignment, so please check with your student to see if it was completed and turned in. The due date was last Friday.
