FIRST!! We shared log-in codes for JUMPROPE with students this morning. They are written in planners. Places to look for it: page 1, page 25 (with Today's assignments) or the post it page on the back cover.
Today was the final day of Shark Tank presentations. We are super proud of the effort our students put into their ideas and presentations. I know there were many sighs of relief afterwards, but most would agree it was a good experience. Our judges gave us lots of good feedback and we will announce winners on Monday. These winners will then present their ideas to Mr. Smith and Mrs O'Rourke to see if they can be implemented at our school!
Students rotated through 4 classes this morning: Math, Peer Revision, Figurative Language and Science. In Math they worked with quadrilaterals, tiling with them and finding area. HOMEWORK Lesson 1 practice problems (if not already finished.) Peer Revision was used to look at the narrative rough draft that was due this morning. HOMEWORK complete personal revision checklist. Figurative Language discussions included different types that should start making their way into 6th grade language. It is expected that final drafts of the narrative include examples of metaphor, alliteration, and personification. And in Science, groups of students acted out how the different lobes of the brain communicate with each other when receiving stimuli. HOMEWORK students are to watch 2 videos in Science Classroom, take notes on a chart in their Science journals, then take a picture of the notes to turn in. (Lots of brain activity for this one!)
Have a SUPER weekend!
