We had another day of rotations today.
Humanities time was spent reviewing writing samples and scoring them with the rubric. The focus was how to effectively back up our opinions with text evidence and then double check convention. The highlight was when Mrs. B wrote on the TV to demonstrate editing. There was time to write the short answer responses and students used it well so that they will be turned in on time on Thursday.
Math was spent learning how to visualize math. We learned that this helps to strengthen our brain connections. You can continue working on the Four 4s math challenge. It's due tomorrow.
During Science we began researching how the brain learns. Many students shared great online sources with us and many interesting facts about what is actually happening began to emerge. We even realized our brains learned something while we were learning how brains learn! Homework tonight is spend 10+ min researching for more info and record 5+ facts about how the brain learns. This should be recorded in the Science section of the notebook.
*Please check with your students to ensure the right materials are coming to and from school EVERY NIGHT. Students should ALWAYS have their multi-subject notebook, charged Chromebook, pencil pouch and planner. Thanks for helping establish this routine early in the school year. New middle schoolers often need these checks throughout the first month to make sure the routine is set.
HEALTH & FITNESS This class meets with students every other day. Students need to begin dressing for p.e. beginning tomorrow. Please check with your student about which day (GO or GRYPHONS) they need to have this wardrobe set.
Reminder for all 6th grade students from Mrs. Straw:
-Students may (and we encourage them) to wear their fitness clothes to school.
-Fitness clothes consist of athletic shoes (no vans/converse), bottoms (can’t be spandex shorts), and a shirt (no tank tops)
-Be dressed weather appropriate as we may go outside if it's dry but cold
