Tomorrow's the Showcase!

We are so excited to show off our ancient civilization learning tomorrow. We spent the afternoon preparing for the event. Please help your students practice their speaking parts this evening. Everyone is required to say something. If your student was absent, instruct them to check gmail from information from their teammates. We hope to see as many of you as possible during our drop in showcase: 9:30 to 10:30. Just sign in at Ms. Penny's desk and come take a tour!

In Humani-Science we researched some alternatives to the trash can for food and plastic. We are beginning to form ideas on what we'd like to implement here at Odyssey. Homework: GET THE PERMISSION SLIP FORM SIGNED!! We need these back ASAP. First trip is this Friday for Blue and Yellow. Red and Green are next Wednesday.

Today in math the kids continued their assessments. We added a “cover sheet” to the assessments so now the kids can see which learning targets they met on their assessments, and which ones need revisiting. It’s a useful tool for parents as well, as it is much more detailed than the Proficiency Scales previously given. We also started Unit 3 which is an extension of Unit 2. Students will begin looking more at rates and percentages. Students may also be introduced to a whole new word: PROPORTION! And no, this is not to be confused with “portion” like a “portion” of food. ;)

We continued reading our novels and introduced our 3rd vocabulary assignment during ELA. With the holiday yesterday, please pay close attention to the due dates posted in Google Classroom.
