I don't know about your pets, but every time I put a costume on my dog, he gave me such a look! Maybe your pet has a better humor in that regard. If you do celebrate this fun day, we'd love to see pictures!
Science took over the block schedule to introduce our new Human Impact project. Based on our waste audit students realized we (students and staff at Odyssey) are wasting a lot of plastics and food. It makes up 73% of what we throw away on a daily basis. Extrapolating this data out we learned that each student produces roughly 39 pounds of waste per school year here on our campus! This is not something we are happy about and have decided to do something about it. Our driving question for this project is: How can we, as 6th graders, increase social awareness and drive change around resource waste in our community. We generated some Need to Know questions that will help guide our research as we figure out a plan.HOMEWORK think of where we can look or who we can ask to get answers to those questions.
We are looking for parent chaperones for a morning field trip to Waste Connections and Tidewater to view what's happening with our waste. This will be split among two days. Yellow and Blue rotations will go on Friday, Jan 24th and Red and Green will go on Wednesday, Jan 29th. If you are interested, please contact kerin.motsinger@camas.wednet.edu ASAP.
Green and Yellow had ELA today. We continued reading our novels. Yellow has a character analysis assignment due Thursday, along with their vocab. Green has a character trait paragraph in addition to vocab, due Friday.
Today in math we had a great day reviewing! Lesson 16 is all about the different strategies we can use to help us problem-solve and organize ratios. We will be using these strategies in our next unit so help us solve more complex ratios. REMINDER: Assessment on THURSDAY/FRIDAY!
