It was nice to see some streams of light coming in from our windows today. Great timing, too since today saw the launch of our next Science-only project: the Solar Car Challenge! Green and Yellow were introduced to the contest sponsored by Clark County PUD. While all students will design, build, test and modify a racecar with a partner, 5 student groups will earn a spot at the regional competition at Hudson Bay High School on March 14th. Last year we had a great time during the display and race portions of this event. Be looking at home for large shoe boxes to store cars in (we need about 40) and other materials that can be used in the car's design. I encourage resources that were destined for the recycle or trash bins like plastic lids and cds. Of course cardboard will be highly sought after as the chassis. We would welcome donations of zip ties and scotch tape. HOMEWORK students in Yellow and Green needed to have posted images of a functional online circuit in the Science classroom today.

Yellow and Blue rotations continued their reading of A Wrinkle in Time, really focusing on the themes of the novel and interpretations of events. To that end, I introduced a C-S-I (color, symbol, image) on the setting/mood of the planet Camazotz, which for yellow rotation is due tomorrow and for blue it is still to be determined. However, both rotations have vocabulary #4 due tomorrow and quizzes over those words.

Red and Green also spent time reading City of Ember. Preparation for a socratic seminar and vocabulary are on the to-do list for these students this evening.

Mrs. Stalheim was absent today, so students worked independently in Prodigy to continue working those math brains. The reassessment is till scheduled for this week, so continued practice with Khan Academy lessons are advised.
