Do you love those little green nuts? Then today is your lucky day. Happy Pistachio Day!

During Science today, Blue and Red groups got to see the track we will be racing on next week. It's 20 feet long and over at Discovery. There are 4 lanes at a time. We're getting "geared up" for the race. If you are interested in helping us on March 4th or March 5 from 8:30 to 10:45, please contact kerin.motsinger@camas.wednet.edu. I can use help with collecting times and having teams on call to race. Hope you can join us. HOMEWORK Still accepting donations for our cars. The kids are loving the zip ties and are running out of the long ones. Please be looking for a trifold. These need to be on campus by next Friday, March 7.

MATH!

Yellow (in-class group): today we ran into some hiccups as a group—some students were not completing homework and this is something that has become habitual for several students. This prompted a “check-in” quiz, to see how much we’re learning in Unit 3 and how practicing daily can help us. As a group, we talked about the importance of making school a priority, and especially math, since we move so quickly through information. The kids were really open and honest, nodded a lot when we talked about how it’s not fun to feel unprepared for an assessment, and agreed that it was good to check-in with their learning every once in a while. HOMEWORK: complete the check-in quiz (I even gave them the answers so all they have to do is show their work!)

Yellow (Burj Khalifa group): we ran into a little bit of socializing today while we worked on our scaled down towers. Fear not! We smoothed out some wrinkles, decided on a wall to paint our cityscape, and moving forward with this big project!

Green (in-class group): completed Lesson 10 and introduced percents, and part of Lesson 11 for percents. HOMEWORK: none! We finished in class!

Green (Burj Khalifa group): we also ran into some socializing today but mostly we needed to remember the standard being assessed: using ratio tables, tape diagrams, or number lines to help us solve ratios/rates, AND how to use unit rates within those 3 models. And then we were back to drawing gigantic rough drafts of towers/buildings.

Humanities:

Red and Green rotations discussed the cliffhanger ending of The City of Ember. Students then had some fun being grouped up and creating their own alternate ending for the book. Students used the remaining time to work on their final Plot - Character Analysis Assignment that is DUE FRIDAY.
