We made it through Thursday! We know there are growing concerns about closures and cancellations--please continue to read the messages our Superintendent Snell sends daily. And yes, we are still having our showcase tomorrow...
SCIENCE: We’re down to the wire. Science students worked on finishing up the trifolds for tomorrow’s deadline. Students who feel they need a little extra time are welcome to come in before school tomorrow at 8:00 am. Mrs. Motsinger will be here. Our showcase is still a go, so we hope to see you between 12:30 and 1:15. We will have question prompts you can ask our students about their solar car learning. And we have hand sanitizer and tissues!
ELA (with Mr. More): The salsa rotations had their 2nd vocabulary quiz today, after which we began to read chapter six, The Happy Medium. We also started taking notes on the setting details and mood of the planet Camazotz, which our travelers found themselves on during this chapter. We will be covering our second reading standard through these notes students are generating. HOMEWORK: Character Profiles
ENRICHMENT (with Mr. More)– for the past week students have been participating in enrichment activities during project time. For the outdoor photography group an assignment was posted on Gryphons 19-20 for students to upload their favorite photo on one doc and a collage of four more of their photos on another doc. In addition, students should make a third doc that has titles for each picture and a short one sentence artist statement. These should be turned in by Monday so we can send them off to the print shop in time for our presentations next Thursday.
Math: today we tied our knowledge of tape diagrams and math mobiles with algebraic equations! It was neat to see all the kids making connections between abstract concepts and concrete equations.
HOMEWORK (green): Lesson 3 Practice Problems
HOMEWORK (red and blue): Lesson 4.3 equations
HOMEWORK (yellow): Lesson 4.2 equations
Yellow and Blue rotations were assigned a Setting C-S-I where they will assign a color, symbol and image to their chosen setting in The City of Ember. We continued reading our novel as well as an article, making text connections throughout our reading. HOMEWORK: Vocab quiz and assignment due tomorrow!
Social Studies: Groups went upstairs to check out projects that the 7th grade students had put together. HOMEWORK: Students must research assigned topics for their Travelogue for 30 mins.
