We spent the majority of the day watching the edited version of The Martian today. We broke the viewing up so that we didn't have to sit for so long. Before we watched we front loaded our brains to attend to what was the same and what was different. Often times we see changes from the book to the movie in characters, plot points, endings, and sometimes setting. At our break we easily found a dozen differences. We took a rec break outside before heading to lunch. After lunch we finished it up after family meeting. The audience was pretty satisfied. Funny side note: even though the ClearPlay editing was on, the kids knew the story so well, they knew what was happening in some of the "deleted scenes!"
ALSO... I'm sure some of your kids have told you they are sending their names to Mars on the next rover scheduled to launch in July 2020! You can too. Just check out this link from NASA!
