It was great to see your kiddos today and hear about all of the fun adventures they had over the break. They jumped right in and we worked on improving our narratives. They received their scores and there was a lot of effort put into bringing up those marks---especially convention, that 'ole bugaboo. Ask your child how they did!
They also worked on reworking their CER's (Claim/Evidence/Reasoning). The biggest challenge with CER's is how to make a claim and have solid evidence (numbers are good) to back it up. They were given an hour today in class.
Many of them are not fixed and need to be worked on at home. If you could inquire about this too, that would be fabulous.
We had a long planning meeting about our civilization projects. Each group sketched out their table display layout and worked on a timeline for getting things done.
We have a need of:
-solid colored fabric (old sheets are great)
-ribbon, thread and any materials for costume-making
-moss/sand/dirt/cardboard (any materials used for making landscapes)
-blue, green, brown, and red paint
Volunteers needed: Our project work time is in the afternoon from 12:45-1:45. This would involve helping to build their models and sewing (!) costumes. If you are handy with sewing, we would LOVE to have your help with that endeavor. And if you're not handy with sewing (like Mrs. Blair), we still need your help. :) Please email us if you'd like to help. You will need to have be cleared with the district to come in to work with our kiddos.
Math: PRACTICE THOSE MATH FACTS!!!
**There is a lot going on this month and we are asking our Gryphons to make super good use of their time in class and at home with finishing work. If you could get check in with assignments, we would really appreciate it! Looking over their shoulders with Google Classroom is a great way to do this.**
