It was STEM day! This is what the project instructions looked like:

In Groups of 3 (one person from each house)

Challenge:

Build a house that will support

Santa’s book of magic

Materials:

Design sheet

10 gumdrops

20 toothpicks

Make your initial designs with these Questions in mind:

What shapes provide the best support?

How do we create strong joints?

What is important about bases?

They did well, although some of our kiddos are still working on being effective/collaborative group members. It sparked a discussion about "who we are" as a 6th grade class. As always, we told them how highly we think of each and every one of them. This is an awesome group and we are seeing growth, which sometimes requires some reflection. There was very good reflection today. 'Proud of them.

Reminder: Civilization narrative rough drafts need to be complete today. We are on to the editing phase as a class tomorrow. Thanks for checking in with your child about his or her writing piece.
