We love late starts. They allow us to be very flexible with our schedule. Today we started with Core Catch-Up. Mrs. Stalheim pulled a math group and Mrs. Motsinger allowed kids some extra time to finish up the cell model label. Those not needed in those areas got to participate in a Bat Plane STEM Challenge. Students were given a bat "body" (toilet paper tube) and challenged to design wings that would allow the bat to fly. This was a lot of fun as partners tried out modifying the body shape and wing style using various materials and trying them out in the hallway.

After lunch everyone got to participate in the Candy Kiss Catapult! Using only craft sticks and rubber bands, trios had to design a catapult that would launch a kiss into a box target OR the furthest distance. We allowed research online to find a design. Many found they needed to alter the plans in order to make the Kiss go where we wanted. It was a fun day all around.

HOMEWORK:

Science: If the cell label is not done, GET IT DONE & turn it in.

Math: Check your XL accounts. If you've got something assigned, do it. If not, YAY!

Humanities: Nothing tonight!

Tomorrow is PICTURE RETAKE DAY and the last day to donate new socks and underwear to the Soul Mates sock drive for the homeless. Donation should be given to bus drivers or Miss Penny.
