One of the requirements of our current Curiosity Cruise is asking a professional for an interview. While many of these are sent via email, some were sent through our trusty postal service. So thanks mail people for making sure those requests get delivered. Speaking of Curiosity Cruises, we are getting ready for presentations this Thursday and Friday. These need to be between 3 and 5 minutes long and detail aspects of the career, including how to become one, opportunities for advancement and the day to day work. We are encouraging students to use as few slides as possible, and on those slides even fewer words. The ideas need to come from their voices, NOT printed on the slides. Please encourage your students by being an audience as they practice their presentation skills. See EYES & BODY and VOICE sections of the Presentation rubric on pages 2 and 3 of the planner to see what will be evaluated.
Don't forget! Bring in lightly worn shoes for our shoe fundraiser! It helps those in need and helps our school raise some funds.
In Humani-Science we began working on creating a pitch for one waste solution. The goal of the pitch is for that solution to be chosen for implementation at Odyssey. We focused on how to work in a group to accomplish a task by assigning a note taker and a sergeant at arms. Each group began working through questions to help define what the pitch will include. More time will be given on Thursday and we will present on Friday during class. HOMEWORK Students were asked to come up with 3 items they think MUST be included in the pitch.
Math/Humanities: all we did was i-Ready. Sigh. We will do the same for the rest of the week. It's a little mundane but it's a good way to assess how the kids have been learning. :)
