We had a very productive day today. The Lascaux Cave narrative assignment anchored us in the Blue Lagoon today. Mrs. Blair addressed how make the story more authentic by putting in details from the location and time period (France 1940) as well as "show not tell". This means show the reader what is happening through detail, description and dialogue. We were super impressed with the focus and hard word the kids put in. We are pausing with science in order to fully engage with this writing experience, which will benefit science anyway. Writing happens in all content areas after all!
During this time Mrs. Stalheim was able to pull a couple groups for focused math sessions to learn about customary units and conversion rates. Not all students were invited to math today. If your child didn't get pulled, they will be tomorrow. Homework will be assigned tomorrow, but if your child wants a head start, they may go ahead and begin 5-8.
Curiosity Cruisin' presentations began today. Kudos to the brave kiddos who were the first to go. Some were nervous, some were confident, all were relieved when it was over! The next batch are tomorrow afternoon. Please encourage your student to practice their presentation for you this evening. The more prepared they are, the more confident they will feel.
