Today was an excellent day of following through on our two goals (listening in the briefing area and respecting materials). Our students reflected on our progress with a grading scale towards these goals and we were impressed with their self-awareness. Your kiddos are quick learners in this adjustment to middle school and a PBL environment.
Our learning today: Mrs. Stalheim led us in a super fun Design Thinking S.T.E.M. activity. In groups of three, students built houses made of limited materials that had to withstand a "wolf" (fan) attempting to blow them down. Lots of creative designs and good team work. We also worked on our silhouettes answering the question "Who am I?". They will be finished tomorrow, ready to hang on a large wall for all to see.
HOMEWORK: please discuss a safe and permanent spot for your student to plug in their Chromebook charger, somewhere nobody can trip over it, it can't be forgotten, the dog won't chew it up, and preferably a spot that is not flammable. :) Write it down in the planner and sign, please! This is key for Chromebook retrieval tomorrow. It's imperative the kids have a safe place to store and charge their Chromebook at home so it's ready to go as they leave in the morning for school.
If you haven't joined our social media accounts yet, give them a look. We post our daily activities frequently and it's fun to see what your children are doing at Odyssey. Only our parents can see the page if approved. Send us a request!
