Yeah, it's not really a thing, but on this day in history in 1681 William Penn was granted permission from the King of England to start a colony for the Quakers in North America. That colony of course became the state of Pennsylvania. Moving to recent history, aka what we did today at Odyssey, Team Salsa rotations continued reading a Wrinkle in Time, stopping to talk about and discuss important character traits and plot events. This is also a reminder that students' vocabulary story is due tomorrow at which time they will have a spelling and definition quiz.

Yellow and Blue rotations met in their reading groups. We continued reading The City of Ember and completed and discussed key moments in the text as well as predictions and questions that the students have. HOMEWORK: Finish reading chapter 2 and 3 in The City of Ember. The electronic version can be found on classroom

MATH: today we dove even FURTHER into percentages, learning more about different algorithms and parts of a whole. I think the kids are starting to get more comfortable with the idea that a percentage is a ratio that is out of 100.

***REMINDER: Unit 3 Assessment on FRIDAY!

Homework (green): Lesson 16 Practice Problems EVENS ONLY (like #2, 4, 6)

Homework (red, yellow, blue): Lesson 15 Practice Problems

In Social Studies, Red and Blue watched a Rick Steve’s travelogue on Poland. Students took notes on what and how the information in the video was presented. After the video, students practiced using Google Earth to look at different places that they would like to research for the upcoming travelogue project. Students then completed a survey with their top three choices for the project - this survey is due by tomorrow morning!

It was race day for Yellow and Green today. Shout out to Keenan & Vinh, Alex & Maddie, Ethan & Hayden, and Carter & Siena. All of their cars made it all the way down the track. Tomorrow Red and Blue get their turn. Thanks to Mrs. Barton for helping us keep track of the times. Remember tri-folds need to be in by Friday. And mark your calendars for Friday, March 13 from 12:30 to 1:15 to come visit our Solar Car showcase!
