YOU GUYS, MRS. STALHEIM IS BACK. In Math we continued with Lesson 8 covering constant speed with Blue and Red rotations today. We learned the difference between SPEED and PACE with regard to unit rate. We are using what we know about unit rate, speed, and pace to help us find who is faster (in a situation) and how we know they're faster.
HOMEWORK: Lesson 8 Practice Problems
Red and Green rotations finished The City of Ember! The book ended with a cliffhanger leaving our students with many questions. We recorded our biggest question on a sticky note and we will have a group discussion in the next few days. HOMEWORK: Students can continue to work on the Plot - Character analysis that is DUE FRIDAY.
Green and Yellow groups got a look at the racetrack we will be using at Discovery next week. It’s 20 feet long and made of PVC pipe. We also got to look at the solar lamps that will simulate sunlight at the starting lines. That got us pretty motivated. A few more groups got their prototypes moving today! We’re excited to get started on the actual build next time we meet. HOMEWORK please continue to look for any materials that would be good for our construction. Also, now would be a good time for students to bring in their tri-folds as we will be working on them starting March 5th. Partners have been told it is expected they can split the cost. Fortunately they are available at the dollar store!
Happy Tuesday! Enjoy some pancakes!
