Happy Friday!
Humanities:
Blue and Yellow rotations took their week one vocabulary/spelling quiz. To follow the quiz, students were assigned a socratic seminar about The City of Ember. The socratic seminar will be held on Wednesday. Students finished class by reading chapter 6 in the novel. HOMEWORK: Socratic seminar prep
Red and Green continued reading A Wrinkle in Time and were assigned new vocab for next week, which is due Thursday. Students also completed a 3-2-1 activity.
Today in math we just had an assessment! It was completed by most students but if any are incomplete then they can resume at PLT on Monday. If your student was absent, they can start the assessment Monday at lunch. I’ve also noticed that some of our kiddos are pretty reluctant to do any homework, so I may start assigning Khan Academy lessons per night for those students. Maybe locking their eyes onto a Chromebook will get more participation. Who knows! :)
We have our top 5 solar car race teams! It was tough to choose out of our 51 teams, but after looking at race results and reflection videos it became clear. Congratulations to Lyla & KaeLynn, Matayah & Collin, Maddie H & Alex, Ethan & Hayden, and Keenan & Vinh! They will represent us at the Clark County Solar Car Challenge next Saturday at Hudson’s Bay High School. If you want to join us, we will be racing between 12:00 and 2:15.
Students in Yellow and Green began working on their tri fold today. This piece of the project is to highlight their learning throughout this project. Requirements for content and craftsmanship are posted in Google Classroom. These tri folds need to be completed for the showcase we are holding next Friday. All parents and family members are invited to drop in during the showcase March 13, from 12:30 to 1:15. Hope to see you there.
Have a great weekend!
