I love gazpacho. It's so delicious on a summer day. Like eating a vegetable slushie. Sounds weird, but lots of things are weird but taste good, like the peanut butter pickle burger from Killer Burger. It's a masterpiece!
HUMANITIES: Yesterday students wrote questions based on their wonderings of our Ancient Civilizations timeline wall. Today students prioritized and ranked said questions. We also planned our project outline and students got hard to work at designing and building their ancient civ projects! NOTE: about 1/3 of students did not turn in their NEWSELA homework due today (found in Google Classroom). PLEASE CHECK YOUR STUDENT'S GOOGLE CLASSROOM ACCOUNT!
Science: We tied all our recent activities together today. Using our experiences with the seafloor spreading activity and yesterday's Hawaiian volcano lab as well as the 3 videos shared earlier this week, students wrote a CER proving that the formation of the island chain proves the tectonic plates are moving. These were due today at 2:00. Some kids asked for extensions (which is Monday by 9:00 a.m.). Please check with your kiddo about their status. HOMEWORK The real homework is your student needs to share their brain brochure rubric and revisions with you this weekend. Your signature is required in a special place in the planner on Monday to verify you had this conversation.
Math: We continued learning about how to find equivalent ratios using recipes! It's been pretty fun with the kids especially with this type of engagement which can only be found when using food in our math routines. It's been especially fun challenging students to find equivalent ratios and seeing all of their creative responses ("Find a ratio that's equivalent to 2:5." "200 million to 500 million!!!")...I mean, he wasn't wrong. HOMEWORK: Complete Lesson 3 Practice Problems.
