What a fun day to work! A little dreary outside but guess what? It's National Cheese Curd Day so that makes things a little more exciting. I love cheese curds.
Humanities: today we learned about common and proper nouns! Did you know that if you are referring to your own mom or the fact that you call her "mom", then it should be capitalized? I know, so crazy! For example, "Hey can you help me with my homework, Mom?" But if you're just talking about a regular ol' mom, then you do not capitalize.
HOMEWORK: there are only a few, but those who did not finish the worksheet today during class need to finish it tonight!
Science: today we did more brain stuff and researched some commonly used words when talking about disorders. We explained "atypical", "diagnosis", and "deficit". We also had a great discussion about how our research is more casual research than self-diagnoses. To become more compassionate and understanding individuals, we need to learn about how different brains work. It's also good to learn characteristics of different disorders so we can understand how or why someone acts the way they do, and we can be more mindful when collaborating.
HOMEWORK: 20 min of research EVERY NIGHT UNTIL FRIDAY. The expectation is to have one full page of notes done on Friday, and keep note of their sources (bookmark or copy and paste URL, etc.)
Math: we worked on identifying new parts of a parallelogram! We defined words such a "base" and "height". Mrs. Stalheim explained that "heighth" is often confused with the word "height" because of the words "width" and "depth" but for this unit, we will try to only use the word "height".
HOMEWORK: no homework tonight except to finish some classwork (for Rotation 1, a base/height table needs to be done and for all other rotations, page 33 needs to be completed but most completed that in class). If you would like to look at more resources, please go to the MATH tab of this website!
Excited to see many of you tomorrow at 5:30pm for Curriculum Night!
