In math today we worked on using the word “equivalent” to describe ratios of different volumes. It was fun since we had experiments/demonstrations in two rotations (science and math) to show our learning. We used ratios in mixing water and hot cocoa powder. We noticed that adding two of the same batch of hot chocolate tasted the same as one batch, therefore showing that multipliers help give us equivalent ratios! HOMEWORK: Rotations 2, 3, 4 need to finish page 153 (Lesson 3.2) to use for discussion tomorrow and Rotation 1 needs to complete page 155 (Lesson 3.3 “Batch of Cookies”).
We split out time in humanities between looking at the timeline wall, where we asked big questions about time and history, and planning for our ancient civilization project. Tentative due date is 12/19. Over the past month students have uncovered a lot of information about geography, history and how their ancient civilizations were governed and are now transitioning into how to convey this information to an audience. HOMEWORK Students need to complete the 2 NewsELA articles with notes by tomorrow. (Click Here for note page.)
We did a really cool lab about hot spots today in Science! Students used a tin of corn starch and water over a flame to model how the Hawaiian islands are formed. Be sure to check out pictures on social media later and ask your kiddo about it! HOMEWORK nothing new, Wegener CER revisions are due Monday.
