What a fun day we had! Students had a fun lab in science, found out their civilization roles for their big project, and finished up some loose ends in math.

Science: students experimented with cornstarch, water, and a candle to model how hot spots create islands (like Hawaii!).

HOMEWORK:

  • Dynamic Earth Quiz Screenshot is due today

  • Hawaii C.E.R. due Friday (see Mrs. Motsinger during PLT for help!)

Humanities: students chose from 4 roles what their best fit would be, and pitched it to their groups later. They had to use C.E.R. (claim-evidence-reasoning) to help prove that they were right for the role. Ask your student how it went!

Math: students explored more rational numbers! Rotation 1 and 2 did a great job and we're getting into the groove of dividing decimals, while Rotation 3 is multiplying fractions/mixed numbers and Compact 7/8 are exploring rational vs. irrational numbers. Now is the time to continue practicing these skills and catching up with homework!
