Yellow and Blue rotations continued their reading of A Wrinkle in Time focusing on finding significant passages from the book and explaining why they chose that passage. As we near the end of our book, look for a couple more assignments as a way to synthesize our learning from the novel.
Red and Green also continued reading. They were assigned a CSI (Color, Symbol, Image) for an adjective that describes the setting or mood of a place in the story. This is not due until Friday and students will have time to work on this in class on Thursday. (link to directions)
During Science, Green and Yellow began designing their solar cars and building prototypes for testing with their partner. This unit is designed to be completed during available class time, since all of our materials are here at school and should not be coming home. Students ARE encouraged to look for materials they can use on their cars (not exceed $10 in value) and bring them in from home. Students are required to record reflection videos as a way of documenting their learning process. Occasionally they may need to finish these up at home, but they should have plenty of time to get these done during class as time is built in for it.
Today we learned another way to find equivalent ratios. Not only do we know equivalent ratios have the same multiplier, we now know the have the same unit rate! We learned through Lesson 7 with burritos how the unit price/rates are the same and how it helps us find other equivalent ratios.
Homework: Lesson 7 practice problems
P.s. please check your student’s workbook! They should have homework completed for Lessons 1, 3, 4, and 7. :)
