Did you know that we start our Fridays with the entire Odyssey school community? We spend time building relationships with kids in all the grades. Today our CASt Crew helped Mrs. Motsinger and Ms. Garner (7th grade Humanities teacher) demonstrate the human knot challenge. Groups of four 6th grader, four 7th graders and three 8th graders (bonus if you also grabbed an adult Gryphon!) crossed arms and grabbed hands across the circle and then tried our best to untangle. It was a hoot for sure!

HALLOWEEN NOTE: Just so you know, we do allow dressing up at Odyssey on Halloween. It is a regular learning, just with costumes! We only ask no weapons, covered faces or clothing that would violate our dress code. Your child is not obligated to participate in dressing up. We're looking forward to seeing what "characters" show up on Wednesday!

TODAY'S LEARNING: Three groups were pulled for math. We are encouraging students to check their Pearson account regularly to see if anything has been assigned. If it is, do it. If there isn't anything there, don't do it!

Science took up the rest of learning time today. We learned how to prototype. We used newspaper and masking tape to create the shape and size we were going for with our actual cell model. We also learned about giving and receiving feedback from our peers. We also practiced with warm and cool feedback. Warm feedback points out specific strengths. Cool feedback suggests specific improvements. The point of feedback is to support each other. We ask for it so that we can improve our product and learning. We also learned how to react to feedback. Sometimes it's helpful, sometimes it addresses something we were already planning to do, and other times it's a suggestion we don't want, so we can disregard it.

AND YES! We are going to be creating our actual cell models next week. Please check with your student about what materials they are planning/wanting to use. Some may need to be acquired over the weekend!
