We started off the day with Fun Friday. This is a tradition at our school where all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders get together and have fun with each other. This morning we had a Lip Sync contest and student shuffle board. Shout out to Jenna for being Mrs. Motsinger's Lip Sync partner for "Call Me Maybe!" We did really well and had a lot of fun! And 6th grade defeated the 7th and 8th grade teams in student shuffle board! Kudos to Odin, Krissi, Peyton, Presley, Justice and Terrence! Also, our school was able to collect 250 pairs of shoes to donate during our recent collection. Thanks to all who sent in their usable kicks!

We had shortened rotations today due to all the fun we had. In Science, Yellow and Green continued work on their solar cars, with many teams making lots of progress during the session. We are excited about the upcoming races. Reflection videos need to be submitted prior to the next work day in order to show learning from day to day in this unit. Students are given time during class to complete these. The only optional homework is to bring in any materials for your car.

The humanities Red and Green rotations completed their Setting C-S-I in class today. We also read chapter 17 and 18 in The City of Ember. Students read with their table partner and developed predictions for the ending. We are hoping to finish the book on Monday! Homework: If students did not complete the C-S-I it needs to be turned in on Monday.

Today yellow and blue rotations finished reading A Wrinkle in Time and discussed some of the important messages and themes of the book. Among those was the power of love, believing in yourself, embracing the freedom to take risks and honoring our imperfections or faults. We will be spending next week digging deeper into these themes and synthesizing our learning around the book.

Red and Blue worked on lesson 8 today in math. Practice problems are homework if they didn't get completed during school today. Burj Khalifa groups should have chosen their towers by now.
