Today was our first opportunity to showcase Odyssey to the next generation of students as we welcomed 5th graders from Woodburn and Dorothy Fox Elementary respectively. Our 6th graders were divided into presentation groups that focused on either our ancient civilization projects, curiosity cruises or our current waste audit project. It's clear that the practice students are getting presenting is paying dividends as our students were engaging, reflective and represented Odyssey very well. Tomorrow will be a full day of hosting the rest of our elementary schools, so please wash those dress clothes and polish up those presentations one more time.
In the afternoon, we spent our time continuing our career curiosity cruise, which students will present next Thursday and Friday. Part of this project is for students to practice the skill of formally asking someone in their career field for an interview or information. We are sensitive of privacy and students are not allowed to use their district email outside of our school district, but the skill is essential for practice. If students want to send their "ask" we would ask that it be done at home with parental approval and supervision. However, students can submit their "ask" via Classroom 19-20 which will be graded as part of the project.
Happy Thursday! Team 6.
